Christmas Crazy Quilting

Our quilting group was challenged to make a crazy block and bring to our Dec get together and everyone would vote on them, wellllll...... I went a little crazy and did four blocks and made them into a wall hanging.

 

I quilted it with gold thread on top and it turned out better than I was expecting, I got Best Over All,  but this may be my first and last crazy quilt lol

Mario Quilt and Pillowcase

 

I made a Mario quilt for my son's birthday, he loved it and the matching pillowcase.  He is 6 foot 5 inches so I had to make it huge. lol

While waiting for my precious great niece to be born I finished the binding on my pumpkin table runner

There will be great memories associated with this now, the baby was born not long after I finished :)

Circa Quilt

I made this for my sweet Niece's first baby which will be born in Oct.  She is expecting a girl and we are SOOOO EXCITED!  I can't wait to get that sweet angel in my arms, she will be my first great niece :)

First Quilt I made for myself :)

I made this quilt for myself (YAY) with Sweet Shoppe Calico Candies by Benartex.  I love this happy fabric! I even bought some extra yardage to make a pieced back for it.

Paris Flea Market Pillowcase

I had enough fabric left to make myself a matching pillowcase for my birthday quilt, I can't wait to sleep on it! 

Here is a closer view of the scalloped borders, I didn't get the corners exactly the same size, maybe with practice I will be able to do that.

Paris Flea Market Finished!

 

I made one of these for my sweet aunt's birthday and I loved it so much I HAD to get more of the Paris Flea Market by 3 Sisters for Moda.  This fabric is one of my absolute favorite fabrics of all time.  I am so glad they re-released this line. This is my first attempt at a scalloped border.  I love the affect it has.  I used the Eleanor Burns ruler and followed this Missouri Star Quilt Co tutorial http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rIHhTxTpMQ0 and the pattern is the 10 Minute Block by Suzanne McNeill.  She has a tutorial for it here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZbTHlGGKMPM.  This is my gift to myself for my 51st birthday.

Paris Flea Market for my 51st birthday :)

I am making for myself a 10 Minute Block quilt, using Paris Flea Market fabrics by 3 Sisters for Moda.  I can not put into words how much I LOVE LOVE LOVE this fabric line.  I made one for my sweet aunt's birthday and I just had to have one for myself.  I did the border a little different than hers.  Thanks for looking.  I will show a pic when it is finished. :)

Baby Quilt

I made my first baby quilt using a charm pack and yardage from the Paris Flea Market line by Moda.  I absolutley LOVE/ADORE this line of fabric and I have a layer cake of it waiting for me to make myself a quilt with it.  It has some of the prettiest rose prints in this line. 

The Fat Quarter Shop's 2013 Designer MysterY Block of the Month

Sewing Weekend

I went to my best friend's for the weekend and we had a sewing day, it is amazing how much more fun it is sewing with your friends than just sewing alone.  I was able to make more progress on my Rachel's Basket quilt.  The quilt kit was a birthday gift from my friend a couple of years ago.  It has 18 basket blocks, which I have completed now and a bunch of log cabin blocks.  I worked on those this weekend.

The fabrics in this quilt are from the Wild Rose collection by Maywood Studios.  I absolutely ADORE them!  Before I ever saw this quilt I had started collecting fat quarters of this fabric line.   When I saw that quilt made up at a quilt shop close to Galveston TX, I litterally gasped.  It was breathtaking.  And while I was looking around the store, my friend snuck, is that a word?? lol, up to the counter and bought me the kit.  When she gave it to me, I was THRILLED!  It was my very first quilt kit.  I can't wait to finish it.

This block is called Card Tricks.  I am not overly fond of this block but I love the fabrics together, maybe once the blocks are all together in the quilt I will like it more. This is the darker colorway and the next one is the bright colorway.  Batiks are so amazing!

Aren't these baby dolls sweet!!  I loved making these.   They were gifts for friends.  I don't even think they make the pattern anymore.
