This is one of the first things I pieced, it was a Christmas gift from my daughter several years ago. I am going to try and quilt it myself, I am trying to learn to quilt on my reg sewing machine.
Sharon, I quilt on vintage machines in treadles--but there are many similarities to using a new domestic machine. Maybe this post would help you: http://doraquilts.blogspot.com/2012/08/tutorial-how-to-quilt-on-treadle-sewing.html
Thank you Dora, I looked at your blog and your quilting is GORGEOUS! I too have a vintage Singer. it is a 201 from 1956 that belonged to a great aunt that was a professional seamstress. But mine is electric, not treadle. I realized the other day that I could put my free motion foot from my Brother machine on it and that the feed dogs could be lowered. SO last night I made a practice quilt sandwhich and practiced some stippling. It works!! I am so exicted because the throat area on it is sooo much bigger than my Brother machine. Thanks for you comment!
